The present world number 4, Lee Westwood, started taking advice from Tony Johnsotne for the betterment of his short game. It has been reported that Westwood was thoroughly pissed off with his conditions and thus he went on to appoint Johnstone.
Westwood has made blunders in recent times. He missed the cut at the 2012 USPGA Championship. After that he became so annoyed that he broke apart with his trainer, Pete Cowan. Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, the manager of Lee Westwood, agreed to the news that Westwood has been working with Tony Johnstone. He said that it is an odd selection but Westwood desperately wants to improve his short-game. So he picked the Zimbabwean.
Johnstone has not got so much of coaching experience apart from working with Robert Rock and Chris Wood. But this ex-golfer was used to be one of the greatest bunker players during his career. Westwood is naturally seeking to gain some advice from him so that he can be in form again.
Nick Price, one of best pals of Johnstone, said that it is a good move by Lee Westwood and it is going to pay off. The six-time European Tour champion Johnstone still takes parts in the Senior Tours.
After working together for a number of days in Canada they will be joining each other on the practice arena at the Barclays Championship. Johnstone admitted the fact that he’s been a great admirer of Westwood and it is a pleasure for him to work with him. And then he added that he would surely look after Westwood’s short-game problem and is hoping to solve it as quick as possible.
Lee Westwood has been going through the toughest time of his career. He hasn’t been able to win a single tournament this year. So he is counting on Johnstone and he is assured that this move will fetch him his luck.
