Lee Westwood buys mansion in Palm Beach Gardens

For Lee Westwood, the English golfer, the Honda Classic is an event for whom the weekend’s tournament will feel just like home.

Just like Northern Ireland’s world number one Rory McIlroy, American Tiger Woods and South African Ernie Els and a few others, the Englishman will not have to travel very far to get some rest after finishing the afternoon round on Friday. The 39 year old was the man who ended Tiger Woods’s long reign as the world number one when he became the top ranked golfer in the world back in 2010.

And just a few weeks back, Westwood spent a staggering $ 5.875 million to buy a spanking new 10,000 square foot villa at Palm Beach Gardens, just a few minutes’ walk from the Old Palm Golf Club. The deal came to the view of the public from public records and the deal for the one acre property on the Tillinghast Circle that boasts of five bedrooms on the 14th fairway of the Old Palm was signed by Lee Westwood on the 15th of last month. The records also show that the English golfer took out a mortgage of $ 4.2 million.

Westwood, along with his wife Laurae and their two children moved into the property just a couple of days back, although the furnishing of the new villa hasn’t been completed in its entirety. He had already stated that he was not comfortable with not being able to work on his game back home where the weather is very unpredictable and it always rains.

As a result, Lee Westwood decided to splash out on the spanking new property which according to the golfer, provides a healthy environment for his kids as well along with providing him with the perfect conditions to work on his game on the course.
